First Ever Philly Critics Awards Cite GET OUT Best Film (AWARDS 2017)

The Philadelphia Film Critics Circle showed some brotherly love to Get Out in their first annual year-end awards.

It’s another Best Picture win this Awards Season for writer / director Jordan Peele‘s horror racism allegory, following top honors from the Washington D.C. Film Critics Association. Philly also gave Peele his first major critics group award for Best Director.

Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Hawkins remain Actor and Actress Oscar contenders with their wins here for, respectively, Phantom Thread and The Shape of Water.

Meanwhile, the Best Supporting front-runners (Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project; Laurie Metcalf, Lady Bird) were both snubbed by Philly critics. Instead, the PFCC went for Woody Harrelson in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Allison Janney in I, Tonya.
