Extinction Threatens Dinos In JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Trailer (VIDEO)

Blockbusters find a way.

After the retro reboot Jurassic World became an unexpected box office behemoth, raking in over $200 million its opening weekend on its way to a mammoth haul of $652 million domestic (4th best ever) and $1.6 billion worldwide, nothing was going to make this franchise extinct any time soon.

But now, the dinosaurs themselves are in danger of just that in the second “World” movie and fifth “Jurassic” film overall, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return as their characters go back to Isla Nublar. The island’s prehistoric resurrections are left by the world to experience a second extinction as volcanic devastation threatens their existence.

This first trailer doesn’t present anything particularly fresh, but with the return of Jeff Goldblum‘s Ian Malcolm and addition of Spanish director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage), the thrills look like they’ll have a darker edge and be on full cinematic throttle.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens next summer on June 22, 2018.
