My review of Okja, for The Tulsa Voice. This dark fantasy fable – and Netflix original – is the latest sociopolitical parable from South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer, The Host).

A “heartbroken South Korean girl named Mija (Ahn Seo-Hyun) defiantly embarks on a rescue mission to save the super pig Okja” that an American multi-national firm has taken from her. “The connection Mija shares with Okja instantly recalls Elliot and E.T.,” but the film’s harsh, cruel, violent realities make this emotional adventure strictly for adults.
