Every parent of a special needs kid better brace themselves for Wonder, the new movie about a boy with a deformed face who goes to school for the first time in the fifth grade.
Based on the best-selling book by RJ Palacio, the boy is played by Jacob Tremblay, the breakout star of Room. It was topliner Brie Larson who won the Oscar for that searing drama, but Tremblay was her equal in helping deliver its power.
In Wonder, he bares his emotions again as Auggie, the strange looking kid who just wants to blend in. Julia Roberts brings her megawatt smile and raw, fierce emotions to the role of Auggie’s mother, and Owen Wilson co-stars as the father.
Mandy Patinkin rounds out the cast notables along with Hamilton Tony-winner Daveed Diggs.
Wonder opens on November 17, 2017. Tissues required.
