The 1970s retro look is in full effect with the first trailer for Battle of the Sexes, the new movie based on the true story of a highly publicized match between tennis star Billy Jean King and male chauvinist firebrand Bobby Riggs.

King is played by Emma Stone, fresh off her Best Actress Oscar win for La La Land, and Riggs is brought to vibrant life by Oscar nominee Steve Carell (Foxcatcher). Both actors look like inspired casting choices; Carell looks to be doing a spin on his popular character from The Office, taking Michael’s clueless sexism and brandishing it with intentional showboating provocation.

Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), this docudramedy co-stars Sarah Silverman, Andrea Riseborough, Elisabeth Shue, Alan Cumming, and Eric Christian Olsen.

Battle of the Sexes opens this fall on September 22, 2017.
