There was a time when Steven Spielberg was slated to direct the first Transformers movie. When he eventually handed it over to Michael Bay, the Armageddon director skewed the kid-centric tale to focus on an older teen and adults (with edgy, sexual humor to go with it).
Now, following the release of the first scene clip from Transformers: The Last Knight – which focused on a group of kids – this latest trailer for the fifth movie in the franchise features the kids again, zeroing in on Izzy, the young Hispanic tween girl who legitimately gets her hero on. Played by Isabela Moner, everything about this newcomer is magnetic. Her emotional, convicting screen presence screams “Star In The Making”.
Honestly, her performance may be the one I’m looking forward to most this summer; she looks that good, displaying that much potential. And if the whole film ends up being kid-centric, then lets hope the content and rating skews more kid-and-family friendly as well. It would be a welcome, er, transformation.
Transformers: The Last Knight opens everywhere on June 23, 2017.
