It all goes good until it goes really bad.

This first official trailer for Alien: Covenant – following a graphic R-rated Red Band teaser from December – further establishes that this sequel to the complicated Prometheus gets back to the franchise’s roots of smart but more straight-forward thrills.

Even though the filmmakers confirm that The Engineers are still a major part of this mythology, I think it’s also clear they heard the gripes from fans about what made Prometheus polarizing. Now they appear to be zeroed in on the elements that Alien fans want most – and that may include Ripley 2.0 in the form of Daniels, played by the short-haired brunette Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them).
