Live Action LION KING Has Its Mufasa & Simba (NEWS)

Something old, something new. Couldn’t ask for a better two.

Director Jon Favreau, who’s conjuring his live action Jungle Book magic for the world of The Lion King, announced via Twitter the actors he’s cast in the roles of Mufasa and Simba:

James Earl Jones and Donald Glover

Jones, of course, played the role of Mufasa in Disney’s original animated version, while Glover is the hottest It Guy of the moment. He will soon be seen in this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as next year’s Young Han Solo Movie (playing Young Lando). Glover is also the hip-hop artist Childish Gambino, and creator/star of FX’s buzzed-about TV series Atlanta.

Disney has yet to announce a release date for live action remake.

  1. For a second there I was wondering why they would have cast that over-the-hill guy from the Lethal Weapon movies as Simba.
