Imagine your once talkative baby suddenly falling silent at the age of 3, and then for the next 3 1/2 years he doesn’t speak – until he breaks his silence with a comment about a Disney movie.
That’s the story of writer and author Ron Suskind and his son Owen. First told in a New York Times article that went viral, and then expanded into Suskind’s book Life, Animated: A Story of Sidekicks, Heroes, and Autism, their journey is now captured in a new documentary that derives its title from Suskind’s memoir.
The first trailer for this moving story – one that also serves as an unexpected breakthrough in understanding and communicating with people all across the Autistic spectrum – has debuted online.
Life, Animated will begin to hit theaters this summer on July 1, 2016.
