It’s hard to take this liberal fan fiction seriously (at least by the tone of this first trailer), but it still may be entertaining.
Christian Bale packed on the pounds and the makeup to transform into Vice President Dick Cheney (the prime target of this raucous expose’), and reigning Best Supporting Actor winner Sam Rockwell nails the doofus caricature of George W. Bush that you’d expect from a Hollywood movie out for blood instead of nuance.
A film that’s likely to play big on the coasts and garner buzz from the awards season elite, it’ll be interesting to see how widely it can play beyond that. A lot will depend on if it’s more complex than this first biased tease seems to suggest.
